The Unix operating system found its beginnings in MULTICS, which stands for Multiplexed Operating and Computing System. The MULTICS project began in the mid 1960s as a joint effort by General Electric, Massachusetts Institute for Technology and Bell Laboratories. In 1969 Bell Laboratories pulled out of the project.
Of all the computers that Apple has ever made there’s only one that Steve Jobs had to sell his car to finance — It was sold for $905,000 in 2014 at the auction.
The Apple-1, as the machine is known, is one of fifty hand-assembled by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in Jobs’ family garage in 1976. It was the first pre-assembled computer ever made (they usually came as kits) and is credited by many tech historians as kick-starting the PC revolution.
